This Set of Locs were Different.
My New Set of Locs are just different than my last set of 5 years. When I decided to embark on the journey of getting locs 5 years ago, I wasn't just choosing a hairstyle; I was embracing a transformational journey toward self-discovery and commitment to myself. For years, I had struggled with my hair, trying to fit into societal norms that often felt restrictive and limiting, always trying to stay up to the trend for others. But as time went along each and loc carefully crafted itself, I found myself shedding those insecurities and embracing a newfound sense of freedom over the years.
I loved my first set of locs, however, I did not love the process getting to that sweet spot. I did not feel confident in myself and wanted to comb them out but I was determined to make it work only because I knew the end result would be worth it. On year 3 is when I began to actually love the look of my locs. My year 5, I was IN LOVE with my locs, I had cut them to shoulder length to embody a bob, which was still long enough to pull ina top bun. YASSSS!! It was my "I Made IT" stage.
Then......
I came across a set of Microlocs on Instagram and I fell in love. I wanted them. I wanted to provide it as a service. I wanted to be apart of that world. Corny I know..lol.. but I just had to have them. So even after I introduced so many women to the Microlocs world, I still had not fully decided to switch yet until one day, I just woke up and cut the back row of my locs in half and began combing them out. I was finally ready.
It took me about 3 working days to combs out and the same to install the microlocs. It was different from my last set from the start. It gave me an immediate hairstyle that I had no issue rocking everyday. I felt beautiful right away.
One of the most empowering aspects of having microlocs has been embracing my natural beauty. My locs celebrate the natural texture and uniqueness of my hair. Rather than conforming to conventional beauty standards, I've learned to appreciate and celebrate what makes me uniquely me. The thickness of my hair is accentuated and embraced with this set. I had a different intention with this set. This set of locs, changed my life for the better.
The transition to microlocs wasn't just about a change in hairstyle; it was a catalyst for a boost in confidence from the start. As my locs grow and mature, so does my self-assurance. I found myself walking taller, speaking with more conviction, and radiating a newfound sense of empowerment.
Beyond personal transformation, my loc journey has also empowered those around me to operate in freedom and growth by doing the same thing. Friends and strangers alike have approached me, curious about my locs and inspired by my journey. I've had the privilege of sharing my experience and knowledge through my business, encouraging others to embrace their natural beauty and find confidence in their own skin through locs styles.
In embracing my loc journey this time, I've discovered not just a new hairstyle, but a profound sense of self-love and empowerment. My locs have taught me to celebrate my natural beauty, embrace my uniqueness, and walk confidently in the world. They've become a powerful symbol of resilience and self-expression, reminding me daily that true beauty lies in authenticity. So, here's to my locs—and to loving every moment of this transformative journey. Thank You.
